Merck Serono is the division for innovative prescription pharmaceuticals of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The Merck Serono division resulted from the acquisition of the Swiss company Serono S.A. and the integration of the business with the former Ethicals division of Merck in January 2007.

Merck Serono discovers, develops, manufactures and markets both innovative bio-pharmaceuticals and small molecules to help patients with unmet medical needs.

The Darmstadt-based Merck Serono GmbH is independent subsidiaries of the Merck Group and responsible within the Merck Serono division for the marketing and sale of prescription ethical drugs in Germany.
