An essential requirement for sustainable development is the harmonization of economic, environmental and social development.
The chemical industry founded its global Responsible Care initiative in 1995. We measure our success on more than just good
products and good profits: Responsibility for the safety of our employees, neighbors and the environment has absolute priority
for the chemical processing operations of Merck Schuchardt. As part of our efforts to achieve continuous improvements, the
Hohenbrunn site is certified to the environmental standard DIN EN ISO 14001 as well as the quality standard DIN EN ISO 9001.
In order to maintain and improve our high standard of safety, we train our employees regularly. These measures have been a
success: in recent years, our workplace injury rate was as far below the average for the German chemical industry. Out of
our workforce of around 100, more than ten employees work for the site fire department, which works closely with the fire
departments of the local communities and regularly holds joint drills.
The main environmental protection issues are the avoidance of emissions and the careful and professional handling of waste.
The unit for catalytic post-combustion of chemical off-gas ensures emission values in line with the latest industry standards.
