Where can I find out about the internships you offer?In our
Job Center. Search by job field, location, organization or keyword. All the internships matching your criteria will appear.

How many months before the start of the internship do I have to apply?To be considered for an internship in Germany, you should apply to us at least four to six months before your internship is due to start. However, in some case we also accept applications at short notice.

Can I apply for an internship between leaving school and starting university?Only if it’s a mandatory internship that’s required for your studies.

Can I apply for an internship after graduation?No. You have to be enrolled for your internship. If you’ve gained your Bachelor’s degree and are already accepted for an additional Master’s degree, you can complete an internship in the months between those two courses of study.

Can I apply for an overseas internship?Yes, please apply directly for an internship in one of our affiliated companies in more than
60 countries.

Does Merck help interns find accommodation?Yes. Upon request we help our interns to find a suitable place to live. Depending on the location you move from, we may be able to offer financial support too.

Can I work at Merck as a school student?Yes, Merck seeks working students in all subject areas year-round. Part-time jobs are available during the semester and full-time jobs are possible during vacations. Especially in summer, as of June, we will be hiring working students and school graduates who are at least 18 years of age, for production, particularly shift work.

What units of the company can I work in as a student and at what sites?You can work in Darmstadt in production, a warehouse, an office or in a laboratory. For our Gernsheim site we are looking for working students mainly for production.

How can I apply as a working student?Please only apply directly online for the speculative positions in
Darmstadt and
Gernsheim. If a suitable opening is available, we will contact you.

What will I earn as a working student?The pay is normally EUR 13.39 (gross) per hour. Supplements are possible in the production units.

Does Merck award scholarships?In general, no. However, through our Student Excellence Program (
STEP), we do support the most talented and motivated former Merck students and vocational trainees throughout their studies/ doctorate. Quite simply, we want to build a strong bond between talented people and Merck as early as possible. To be accepted, you must complete a successful internship first.
